How did I become a Maple Leaf fan? Here’s Howe. (That’s from a hockey instructional book that I still have, supposedly written by Gordie Howe, titled ‘Hockey, Here’s Howe’.
My Mom was definitely ahead of her time, despite her constant jabs at me for being a Toronto fan. You’ll get the point of that after you listen to the podcast. She was a feminist, felt strongly about women’s rights and, I guess, instilled that in me. Additionally, she was against discrimination of any kind, something that I feel just as strongly about.
